Roadways and Transportation
Saguache County Road T is the only public road entering the Baca/Crestone area. It connects 12 miles out in the San Luis Valley to Colorado Highway 17 at the town of Moffat, which leads to U.S. Highway 285 to the north and U.S. 160, in Alamosa, to the south. The distance from the Baca/Crestone community to the nearest interstate is approximately 125 miles.
Crestone is a one hour drive from Alamosa, for the nearest shopping, conveniences, and commercial air service (via United) - propeller planes to Pueblo/Denver. It is a 3-4 hour drive to the nearest large cities of Colorado Springs, Denver or Sante Fe. There are no rail lines, nor major bus services through this area. Automobile is the main form of transportation.
